Lanvin for H&M

Woah. Alber Elbaz of Lanvin is creating a collection of mens and womenswear for H&M, another triumphant collaboration for the uber-chain following on from previous bestsellers by Matthew Williamson, Karl Lagerfeld, Sonia Rykiel, Comme des Garçons and Stella McCartney (the most swoon-worthy for me). Most of us doubted such a day would ever come since a high street collection seemed to be the last thing Alber would consider, but thankfully he has changed his mind:

“I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public. This has been an exceptional exercise, where two companies at opposite poles can work together because we share the same philosophy of bringing joy and beauty to men and women around the world.” You can’t actually buy the pieces until Tuesday 23rd November, from around 200 H&M stores worldwide (a date for the Smythson). Ready, set…..
